The spark city team

Katherine Broome is a Jefferson County mom to three-year-old son, Landon and 1-year-old daughter, Morgan.  Prior to having her son, she was a criminal prosecutor in Adams County– an experience that greatly shaped her into the person she is today.   She truly has a passion for ensuring that every child has an equal opportunity to education.  Katherine is very excited to create a safe and positive place in her community where all children can learn, explore, and develop into their best selves.  She hopes that the whole community will get involved with this project and feel as though they had a part in creating it.  Katherine received her Bachelor of Science degree in business from Indiana University, and a law degree from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.  She and her husband, Neil, love spending time outdoors with Landon, Morgan, and their two furry babies.

Jillian Stuut has over 10 years of experience working in elementary education and is currently a 3rd grade teacher in the Adams 12 School District in Broomfield.  She loves working with her students and their families helping children grow and develop into productive students who gain a passion for learning.  Jillian has a Masters in Teaching and Learning from Regis University and received her Administrative license from the University of Denver in 2012.  She and her husband live in Arvada with their three-year-old son, which drives her passion for this project.  She hopes to inspire the community to create more learning opportunities for our youth.

Janet Freytag has 10 years of teaching experience in special education.  In addition to teaching and raising her two daughters, she owned a coffee shop in Niwot, Colorado for 8 years and has also volunteered in numerous settings.  She currently lives in Arvada and is a proud grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren.  With a genuine love for philanthropy and helping other people, she hopes this children's museum will be a place where children can not only learn, but also connect with their grown-ups in a positive way.

Jackie Falkenstein grew up in Virginia where she was always playing outside in the woods.  Her love of the outdoors led her to earn her Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Science at Virginia Tech and a Master's degree in Education at the University of Pittsburgh. She has lived in Colorado since 2008 and absolutely loves it! Jackie worked at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge for the US Fish and Wildlife Service when first moving to Colorado. She then became an Outreach Educator for the Denver Zoo and drove all over the state teaching classes ranging from preschool to high school. She currently lives in Golden with her husband and raises their two young sons.  With so many wonderful places to explore in Colorado, Jackie always finds opportunities to share her fascination and appreciation of nature with people of all ages.

Kat Allen is the mom to 5-year-old Morgan and 3-year-old Parker.  She received her undergraduate degree in Recreation Management from the University of Montana in 1998. During college she participated in a semester long outdoor education course through the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS provides wilderness education programs to teens and adults worldwide).  After graduating she obtained a job at NOLS in Wyoming as an admissions counselor and recruitment coordinator. Thereafter, she moved to Alaska and worked as a rations manager organizing food for every course that was starting from this base area.  Following that experience, she was hired by the Girl Scouts of America to provide Girl Scout programs for disadvantaged youth on the Front Range.  Kat earned her certification as a Montessori 1st-3rd grade teacher at the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies in Boulder.  After a few years of teaching, Kat went on to earn her Masters in K-6 Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix. She taught for two more years in the classroom, then decided to work as a full-time nanny before she became a mom herself. She and her husband, Mike have lived in Colorado for 15 years.
